Primary language
Next.js application using TypeScript with development, build, start, and lint workflows detected. Repository structure is available to Axiom for contextual project assistance.
The problem
AI can generate code. Understanding the software around that code is harder.
Modern software projects contain hundreds of files, dependencies, scripts, architectural decisions, and relationships. Useful AI assistance requires more than a disconnected prompt box.
Axiom explores a different product model: give AI enough repository context to help users understand the project while keeping the human developer at the center of the workflow.
Product strategy
Intelligence without removing control.
Repository-aware
AI assistance starts with understanding the software project instead of treating every prompt as isolated context.
Local-first
Core repository workflows are designed around a desktop experience and local services rather than requiring the codebase to live inside a hosted AI product.
Human approval
The product direction keeps developers in control by making AI part of an inspectable workflow rather than an invisible autonomous layer.
Experience architecture
From repository to useful context.
The experience is structured around progressively building understanding before asking the user to rely on AI assistance.
Understand
Inspect the repository and establish enough context for the AI system to reason about the project.
Orient
Surface project structure, language, scripts, repository health, and useful entry points in a comprehensible workspace.
Collaborate
Give the user AI chat and reusable prompts while preserving repository context and developer control.
Act
Move toward safe AI-assisted software workflows where changes can be planned, reviewed, and approved by the human.
What I built
Product thinking translated into working software.
Desktop architecture
Axiom Community uses a desktop application architecture with a local service layer to support repository-aware product experiences.

Outcome
From concept to closed alpha.
Axiom progressed into a functioning desktop product with onboarding, repository intelligence, AI workflows, reusable prompts, local services, and an installable Community alpha. The project demonstrates an end-to-end approach that connects product strategy, UX decisions, system design, and implementation.
